If you are still on a version of IBM Cognos TM1, it is time to plan your upgrade to its rebranded successor, IBM Planning Analytics.
- If you are on a version of TM1 10.2.2, IBM will end support on September 30, 2019.
- If you are on a version of TM1 10.2.0, IBM ended support on September 30, 2018.
TM1 10.2.2 End of Service (EoS)
On Monday, September 30th, 2019, IBM will end its support for Cognos TM1 10.2.2. But what does that mean for you? If you’re still on Cognos TM1 10.2.2 (or earlier releases), first of all, don’t worry… your software will still function. What End of Service (EoS) does mean is that no new development work or bug fixes on the software will take place as IBM shifts full focus to Planning Analytics.
Of course, Grandview will continue to support our TM1 10.2+ customers, but now is the time to look ahead. If you haven’t made the move to Planning Analytics, this could be the perfect time to upgrade.
IBM Planning Analytics is the next generation of TM1. IBM Planning Analytics brings new game-changing capabilities that deliver the flexibility you need, without changing your business processes. Launched by IBM in late 2015, it takes TM1’s powerful, multi-dimensional calculation engine and adds new capabilities and UX to make your planning, budgeting and forecasting faster, easier and more flexible than ever before.
PAW, Pax & Other Benefits of Migrating to PA
Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW)
Planning Analytics’ Workspace (PAW) is perhaps the most striking change – with its shiny new, customizable workspace, making it so much more easy to use. From quickly creating compelling visualizations to share your findings, to navigating multi-dimensional cubes in an interactive viewer, PAW is a welcome addition to an immense set of capabilities. Workspace lets you create compelling visualizations quickly and is mobile-friendly, so you can work with your screen size of choice.
Planning Analytics for Microsoft Excel (PAx) Add-on
The IBM Planning Analytics for Microsoft Excel (PAx) add-on is the successor to CAFÉ and Perspectives giving you Excel access to your TM1 cubes with superior performance. It integrates smoothly with Workspace, sharing a common UX, cube viewer and set editor.
The hierarchies capability provides both technical advantages and business-user benefits over TM1. You’re no longer limited to traditional cube definitions with flexibility to explore by attributes. Instead of a straight path from a dimension to its elements, there is now the option of inserting an intermediate level. This container object is called a “Hierarchy”, and a dimension can have as many hierarchies as you wish.
The European Union’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is another very good reason to upgrade. GDPR took effect formally on May 25, 2018, and it’s important for all of your business processes to be compliant.
Quick & Easy Migration
The upgrade to IBM Planning Analytics is not really a migration. For the most part, you just install it and go, using your current model and mode of operation!
It’s time to move to IBM Planning Analytics!
When it comes to your critical planning processes, don’t compromise. You can have a fast, flexible solution that embeds powerful analytics into everyday decision-making – in the deployment model of your choice. It is time to move to IBM Planning Analytics, the evolution of IBM TM1.
